2013
I received third place in the Bess Streeter Aldrich Short Story competition for my short story, "Bone and the Big Race". The story was about a dog named Bone and his big race, who would have guessed?
Creative Communcations

I was recognized as one of the top ten poets in the United States and Canada for my age group based off my poem, "Seasons" which was published in the Fall 2013 edition of the Creative Communications Poetry Book. Nature and Nebraska's distinct weather patterns served as my inspiration for this piece.
UNL Poetry of Place
2014
The University of Nebraska Lincoln recognized my poem, "Sandhill Cranes", and awarded me with the Poetry of Place Award. My poem focused on my memory as a child when my family saw the Sandhill Cranes. I read my poem at the Nebraska Capitol Building.
