Click on the IB logo to learn more about the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. The image will take you to the IB website homepage.

Hi! My name is Anusha Deshpande. I am currently a sophomore at the University of Southern California (Fight On!) in sunny Los Angeles, and I am studying human biology on the pre-med track (if you ask me what I'm studying though, I might forget because I'm constantly sleep deprived from all the school work lol). I am also double minoring in mathematics (more like attempting) and political science.  I call the great state of Nebraska home, but no... I don't drive a tractor around the city. I graduated from Millard North High School in May 2021, and I also (somehow) successfully completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP).

I am a very proud Indian-American. On the way to school, I enjoy jamming out to some Bollywood hits or NPR (but nothing in between). I will watch any Bollywood movie you recommend, and you can bet that I will cry my eyes out sometime during the movie. I like to say that I can speak/understand the following languages: English-fluent (although Grammarly says otherwise), Kannada-fluent (my parents might not agree), Hindi-can understand (thanks to Star Plus TV shows juxtaposed with English subtitles), French-conversational. My family consists of my mom, Asha who is a data scientist, my dad, Murali, who is a veterinary scientist, and me, Anusha, who is a Netflix scientist (aka... a binge watcher). Watching over the three of us in heaven are my two beautiful parakeets named Shine and Grass.

My school year is very busy with school (just like most students). For a full list of extracurriculars I did in high school, please see my extracurriculars page. In college, I am working on getting more involved haha, so put a pin in the college extracurriculars for right now. In the summer, I love to just do nothing - basically watch TV all day, hang out with my friends and parents, occasionally work, and spend time living my best life.

Some random facts about me because why not. In January of 2020, I got over a three-week sinus infection. Yeah, that was gross, but also, kind of an achievement. I stuck a rock up my nose when I was three because why not (add that to the list of how to freak your parents out). My best friend and I got hula hoops stuck in the tree you see in the pictures. We were playing ring toss, but with tree branches and hula hoops instead of bottles and rings. It took a mix of climbing the tree and using a ladder to get the hula hoops down. When I was seven, I filled up an entire Lisa Frank notebook with "journal entries" (which were actually like four sentence stories that I made up) and crayola paint masterpieces (those masterpieces inspired Leonardo da Vinci, don't look that up). I love puns/dad jokes. Here's an original one. What did one bunny say to the other bunny? How's my HARE? Hahahahaha. Plan C for my future is to be a comedian. I think I have a pretty solid shot! Last random fact. I wore a yellow sweater and blue overalls to school one day and realized that I looked like a minion. I was already running late, so I didn't have enough time to change. I was BOB (from Despicable Me) the whole day.

"These are a few of my favorite things" (Sound of Music reference). My favorite OG Disney TV show is Hannah Montana, it was the gateway show into my Disney Channel obsession (I'm still waiting for a casting call-back; Disney, call me). The best TV show (well, it's a Netflix show, but I think it counts) is The Witcher (check it out, it's really interesting, and Henry Cavill is INCREDIBLE in every way). My favorite movie is Jodha Akbar. It is literally a fact that Jodha Akbar is the greatest movie ever produced. My favorite Hollywood movie is The Chronicles of Narnia (I know there are multiple Narnia movies, but they are all equally amazing) and any romantic comedy from 1990s and forward (10 Things I Hate About You is GOLD). My favorite book is The Hate U Give. It is truly a beautifully written book. For all my Harry Potter friends, fear not, my favorite series is Harry Potter. I consider myself to be a Ravenpuff or Huffleclaw, however you want to put the two together. My favorite colors are pink (but like, a pink so red that it almost looks red) and turquoise (more blue than green though). I tried to implement the two as much as possible throughout the website. My favorite food is Panera salad and chocolate mousse. Don't fact check this, but chocolate mousse is as healthy as romaine lettuce. My absolute favorite thing to do is foster doggos. We are strong advocates of rescuing animals (adopt don't shop), and so far, we've fostered three adorable doggies who have changed our lives forever.

Congrats on making it all the way through! I hope I made you smile or at least smile inside your brain at least once. I have the pep and optimism of a cheerleader, but sadly, not the physical flexibility. I hope you enjoy the rest of the website! Thank you!

Special shoutout to my friend Ramya Iyer for telling me about Wix, the website I used to make my website! Be sure to check out her website by simply typing Ramya Iyer Omaha into google!

Also, apologies to all my English teachers for not MLA citing the TV shows, movies, and books mentioned here.
